Food gases
Food gases are used in the food industry to ensure the quality, safety, and shelf life of products. They play an important role in the packaging, storage, and processing of food items.
Applications:
- Packaging food under a modified atmosphere (MAP) to extend shelf life
- Preventing oxidation and spoilage by replacing oxygen (e.g., with nitrogen or CO₂)
- Maintaining the red color of fresh meat using oxygen mixtures
- Carbonation of beverages (adding CO₂ to soft drinks and beer)
- Freezing and cooling products with liquid nitrogen or CO₂
- Use in fermentation processes (e.g., beer and wine production)
- Protecting the aroma and freshness of products during storage and transport
