Weldmix 2% AR CO₂ - B05

A Welmix 2% B05 gas cylinder is a compact, industrial gas cylinder with a water capacity of 5 liters, filled with a mixed gas for MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding. The composition of 98% Argon and 2% CO₂ is specifically optimized for welding thin materials (such as sheet metal in the automotive sector) and stainless steel (RVS).

Unlike pure CO₂ or Nitrogen, this is a mixed gas under high pressure (usually 200 bar). Because the gases are mixed in an exact ratio, it is essential that the cylinder is stored and used vertically to prevent separation, although this is less critical with modern mixtures than with liquefied gases.

Important info!

Key features:

  • Welding quality: The addition of 2% CO₂ ensures a stable arc and good penetration on thin materials, with minimal spatter compared to pure CO₂.
  • Compact B05 format: Thanks to its low volume, this cylinder is highly mobile, making it ideal for on-site repair work or in small workshops where space is limited.
  • Applications: Extremely suitable for MAG welding of non-alloy steel and thin stainless steel constructions.
  • High-pressure system: Like nitrogen, this mixture is stored under high pressure, causing the pressure on the manometer to gradually decrease as consumption increases.

Transport & Use:

  • Fixation: Because of the compact and narrow shape of the B5 cylinder, it tends to tip over easily. Always fix the cylinder vertically with a bracket or in a designated holder, even on a mobile welding cart.
  • Transport: Ensure the pressure regulator is always removed during transport and that the cylinder is secured upright in the vehicle.

Specific safety information for Welmix (Argon/CO₂):

  • Asphyxiation hazard: Although Argon is an inert gas and CO₂ is not directly toxic in low concentrations, both gases can displace oxygen in small spaces. Always ensure good ventilation during welding.
  • High-pressure safety: The cylinder is under 200 bar of pressure. Use a pressure regulator specifically calibrated for mixed gases. Never use a standard CO₂ regulator, as the flow characteristics of the mixture are different.
  • Valve protection: On this small B5 format, the valve is still the most vulnerable point. Always use the protection cap during transport.
  • No grease or oil: Do not use grease or oil on the connections; with high-pressure gases (especially with Argon mixtures), this can lead to contamination of the welding process or even dangerous situations.
