Helium He - B05

A Helium He-B05 gas cylinder is a compact 5-liter (water capacity) industrial gas cylinder filled with pure Helium gas. Like Argon, Helium is an inert noble gas. This means it is absolutely non-flammable, non-explosive, non-toxic, and chemically completely stable. Due to its unique physical properties, Helium in this compact cylinder size is specifically used for specialized applications in engineering, laboratories, and for small-scale events.

Important info!

Due to its very high purity (Helium 5.0) and the compact 5-liter cylinder, this bottle is specifically used for specialized, mobile applications:

  • Leak Detection (Sniffer method): Because Helium has the smallest atomic size of all gases (after hydrogen fractions), it escapes through the smallest micro-cracks. Service technicians use this B05 cylinder to pressurize air conditioning systems, cooling systems, and vacuum lines, and to detect leaks with a Helium detector.
  • Laboratory Analysis (Carrier gas): Frequently used as an inert carrier gas in gas chromatography (GC) for chemical analysis. The B05 cylinder is ideal for mobile lab units or test setups.
  • Specialized TIG Welding: Sometimes added to Argon as a shielding gas mixture for welding very thick sections of aluminum or copper. Helium creates a hotter welding arc and deeper penetration.
  • Balloon Gas (Hobby/Small-scale): Although technically overqualified, a B05 cylinder is also used to inflate approximately 80 to 100 standard balloons (9-inch) on location.
Product details

"Helium He gas cylinder, filled with 5L of Helium, specifically developed for industrial and professional balloon use (designed for long-term and professional applications).

Helium falls under ADR regulations as UN number 1046 (Helium, compressed, Class 2.2: Non-flammable, non-toxic gases).

  • ADR Points Calculation: Non-flammable gases count as 1 point per liter of water capacity. A B5 cylinder has a water capacity of 5 liters and therefore equals exactly 5 ADR points. You may transport up to 1,000 points (200 of these cylinders) without an ADR certificate or orange placards.
  • Cylinder Cap Required: Always screw the protective cap onto the cylinder during transport to protect the valve in case of a fall.
  • Horizontal Transport Allowed: As it is a pure compressed gas, the B5 cylinder may be transported both upright and horizontally, provided it is secured tightly with ratchet straps so it cannot roll or slide.
  • Ventilation: Transport the cylinder with the car windows slightly open or with active cargo area ventilation.
  • Fire Extinguisher: For professional (commercial) transport, a certified 2 kg powder extinguisher (ABC) is legally required in the vehicle.

Although Helium is non-flammable, non-explosive, and non-toxic, the cylinder poses specific physical risks:

  • Asphyxiation Hazard (Lighter than air!): Unlike Argon, Helium is much lighter than air. In the event of a leak, the gas rises immediately and accumulates under the ceiling or in the roof of the workshop, silently displacing oxygen. Always ensure ventilation at the top of the room.
  • High Pressure (200 bar): The enormous pressure requires an approved Helium pressure regulator. Never use damaged valves or connections.
  • Color Code: The shoulder of the gas cylinder is brown (RAL 8008) in accordance with the European standard EN 1089-3 for Helium.
  • Inhalation is Dangerous: Inhaling Helium to create a "squeaky voice" is life-threatening. It acutely displaces oxygen in the lungs, which can lead to sudden loss of consciousness, brain damage, or suffocation.
